Overview

Feather Bone Provisions & Assembly sits comfortably in the heart of Blacksburg, Virginia, offering a fresh take on casual dining that feels both vibrant and inviting. Located at 4237 Prices Fork Rd Suite A, this compact restaurant excels in creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere that suits a broad audience—from families with toddlers to groups of friends seeking a relaxed yet refined meal.

The standout here is undeniably the Smash Burger paired with their seasoned fries, a dish that redefines what a burger can be. Unlike the typical dense patties, this smash burger is juicy and tender, boasting a thickness and moisture that elevates the experience beyond the usual greasy fare. The thick, melted pimento cheese adds a creamy, rich contrast, making each bite memorable. For those looking for an alternative, the chicken nuggets receive high praise for their flavor and texture, proving to be equally satisfying.

Vegetarian diners find thoughtful options as well. The Bang Bang Brussels sprouts capture a bold spice that balances perfectly with the components, while the eggplant burrata brings a creamy, smoky element that delights the palate. Sides like the Eloté corn, generously topped with cotija and spices, add a surprising depth and playfulness to the meal, adding layers of regional flavor that linger after the last bite.

The experience at Feather Bone leans into a casual, order-before-you-sit model that might initially feel different but quickly becomes part of the venue's charm. The staff's genuine warmth, coupled with a visibly well-tended space, enhances the overall dining rhythm—efficient without sacrificing friendliness. This care extends to their ethics, as seen in their approach to tipping, which fosters a positive environment for staff and guests alike.

Beverage choices complement the food expertly. The on-tap selections, ranging from crisp Citrus Wheat to nuanced session sours, pair effortlessly with the menu’s flavors. Whiskey enthusiasts are also well-served with a curated rye selection, offering rare and interesting pours that elevate the drink experience without overwhelming the core focus on food.

In summary, Feather Bone Provisions & Assembly provides a coherent blend of inventive dishes, artisan beverages, and attentive hospitality. Its modest footprint is filled with big flavors and thoughtful details, making it a true standout in the Blacksburg dining scene. Whether sharing an appetizer, diving into a smash burger, or exploring their vegetable-driven sides, guests leave satisfied and eager to return.

Feather bone has great vegetarian options that I really enjoyed! The Bang Bang Brussels is little greasy but it hits the spot!! Eggplant burrata is also so good

Very cool place with a good vibe. Chicken Nugs are ridiculously good. The smash burger was also very tasty (would not consider what I think of a smash burger) but a very moist and well cooked cheeseburger. I will get aïoli on side or light next time but will be back. The seasoned fries are outstanding. Poutine was legit and if you are a whisky fan some of the best list I have seen in a long time. I also like the fact they add 20% tip for morale and to take care of staff. Everyone was smiling and friendly. Bathrooms were tidy. Get there early as it is not a big place.

Everyone including a toddler enjoyed their meals. All sorts of great spices in Brussels and terrific cooking. Their vinaigrette dressing is classic but something makes it better. Elote corn was a fav and loaded with cotija and spices. Their thick, melted pimento cheese was a neat way to elevate the smash burger and bologna sandos. Food was tasty, plentiful and take home boxes were needed.

This is our favorite place in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area. At first, the order before you sit and not really be waited on approach bothered me. We have been 4 times and this no longer does. The food is so good that nothing else would have to matter. For the price, the portions are large. My first impression was that the experience was going to be over priced, boy was I wrong. Kids love the smash burgers. The chicken options are always good, the salads are good, the appetizers are amazing too.

Not exaggerating when I say this was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. Every dish was perfect and creative. We stayed in Blacksburg for 2 nights, and went here both times. Bang Bang Brusselsprouts are a must-try.

I went for happy hour for the first time and i only got a few pictures. The food was super good! I definitely like the spicy sandwich ( in the picture) and the cup nugs. I personally loved the bread that came with the dippy bread. I definitely would come to just eat for happy hour. I will say there's an auto 20% so it may seem a little pricey at first. I definitely will be coming back!

The food was cooked well and everything except the fries tasting good. Nothing in the description said fries with heavy season salt. The flavor of the poutine fries was overcome by the seasoning. The 20% service charge for pretty much doing most of the service yourself is interesting, when I told the guy at the register about the over seasoning he just said thanks for the feedback. I offered to show him but no interest in seeing it. I don’t get it for 20% automatic service charge I guess you don’t have to care. I will be back but not for “French fries”. The succotash was really good. Updated after second visit, the half chicken is amazing, the beet salad was tasty, and the watermelon salad was also top notch. All had great flavor and well curated.

Food here is always great and folks are friendly. Highly recommend the miso butter and focaccia. There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as to go options. Make sure you check google when you go - if they’re closed for an event, it will show on Google Maps as temporarily closed!
